rsz__mg_7300_0380Dr. Janette Alvarez is the owner, and currently sole veterinarian at Animal Wellness. Dr. Alvarez graduated from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Dr. Alvarez has professional interests in internal medicine, geriatric care, complementary therapies, nutrition, behavioral medicine, and preventative care. Dr. Alvarez enjoys family life with her husband Frank and their three children Noah, Colby, and Jada, as well as the family dogs Tiger, Cleo, and puppy Bree, and cat Olivia. She also enjoys reading, writing, gardening, and hiking.

gerrymonahanGeraldine Monahan is our client services coordinator. Gerry comes to Animal Wellness after a 35 year career in education, working with children with learning disabilities. She is excited about the opportunity to work with animals as a second career. Gerry is “mom” to her two cats, Gene and Kelly. In her free time, Gerry enjoys reading, traveling, walking, and the arts.

Michelle Wituck, is a team assistant extraordinaire.  A recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, she has always had a passion for the sciences, and for taking care of animals. She is very excited to be a part of the team and being able to help care for your beloved pets in need. In her spare time Michelle enjoys playing volleyball, reading, traveling, and dog sitting her favorite labradors, Otto and Matic.

Warner Forbes is our maintenance facilitator. Warner is a true animal lover at the core, and enjoyed a previous career in forestry. Warner does not currently share his home with any pets, but we hope to change that soon.

 

 

 

Visiting Veterinarians
Dr. Bruce Kerns performs ultrasounds for Animal Wellness Veterinary Center.  Dr. Kerns graduated in 1983, he earned a Master of Science degree in Veterinary Physiology from the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology at Texas A&M University. In 1987, he graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Honors from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois. In 1999, he became only the second veterinarian in the state of Connecticut to certify as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (specialist in Canine and Feline Practice).
Dr. Melvyn Pond, BVMS, MRCVS, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Surgeons, one of the foremost Board Certified veterinary surgeons in the region, performs orthopedic and general surgery for Animal Wellness Veterinary Center.  Dr. Pond graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine and has held teaching and research positions at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Georgia, University of Glasgow, and the Yale University School of Medicine.
